About

I was born and raised in El Paso, TX where I graduated with a B.F.A. in Painting from the University of Texas at El Paso. I currently reside in Austin, TX; where I teach art, work on art commissions and raise my son while obsessively listening to Depeche Mode.

Using symbolism and religious iconography in my paintings, I attempt to venerate people, objects or places that seem mundane or forgotten. I particularly focus on matriarchal figures and cultural ideas regarding women. Memories often haunt my paintings and I strive to illustrate my own feelings of longing for the past while incorporating surreal or seemingly nonsensical scenarios into the narratives. The majority of my work focuses on personal experiences, family, culture and my hometown of El Paso.
